Mary Beth Shea

Mary Beth Shea has more than twenty-five years of experience in management consulting and business. She was a principal in Cresap, McCormick and Paget, Inc. and later with Towers Perrin, as well as central region manager of the Financial Institutions Practice. Areas of expertise include strategy, marketing, organizational effectiveness, and productivity/profit improvement. Among her clients were leading companies in the banking, insurance, oil and gas, utilities, transportation, and media and entertainment industries.

Ms. Shea later spent twelve years with the Allstate Insurance Company first as head of internal consulting and then held positions as an officer in both the corporate organization and business units, including Property and Casualty and Allstate Life with responsibilities for planning, brand strategy and marketing, and new business development. Ms. Shea led pioneering work in areas such as customer retention and profitability, and entry into financial services. She served as secretary to the Allstate Board of Directors Committee on Distribution; initiated and co-led development and launch of the Allstate Intranet, and organized and led an enterprise-wide initiative to implement the Allstate brand value proposition.

Early in her career, Ms. Shea co-founded Funding Sources Clearinghouse to provide customized information on public and private grant programs to not-for-profit organizations and institutions. Ms. Shea developed the first data base of its kind, built a national client base, and designed products and services. For this accomplishment, Ms. Shea received the magazine "Woman of the Year" award. Ms. Shea has been a speaker at national and regional conferences. Among her publications are "Structuring the Organization After a Merger" in the Bankers Magazine and "Strategy Audits" in Strategic Management Handbook.

Ms. Shea holds an MBA degree from Stanford University and BA degrees in English and Sociology from Marquette University. She is currently a member of the Northern Board of the Chicago Youth Centers.
