Jeff Schmidt

Jeffrey A. Schmidt has more than twenty-five years of experience in consulting, research and teaching. He is the managing partner of Traversa in the Central U.S. His expertise covers strategy and organizational development, and business performance improvement across a wide range of industries. He has been a primary management consultant to senior executives of companies around the world. Mr. Schmidt also serves currently as the Managing Director - North America for CDI Global BV, a global specialist in business combinations, and is a member of that firm's Operating Committee.

Previously, Mr. Schmidt was the Managing Director of Towers Perrin's Strategy and Organization consulting division and the Managing Director for Innovation. He was a member of Tower Perrin's Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Leadership Council. He helped to build Towers Perrin's M&A Initiative and Energy Services Practice, and has managed the consulting office and Central Region of the Strategy and Organization consulting division. Prior to joining Towers Perrin, Mr. Schmidt was a Vice President of Cresap, McCormick & Paget, Inc., an international strategy consulting firm.

Mr. Schmidt is the primary author and general editor of Making Mergers Work: The Strategic Importance of People, and has published more than forty articles on a wide range of management and business performance issues. He is a keynote speaker at many important management conferences and is frequently quoted in newspapers and business journals.

Mr. Schmidt holds a B.S. degree in engineering management with honors from the U.S. Military Academy (West Point) and an M.B.A. degree from Harvard. He is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the American Petroleum Institute, the International Association of Energy Economists and the Council on Foreign Relations. He has served as an instructor for the Institute of Management Consultants, and has been a member of the Committee on Corporate Development of the Graduate School of Business of the University of Chicago. Earlier in his career, he was an adjunct professor in the graduate school of public administration at the University of Colorado.
